LIVERPOOL will be without goalkeeper Alisson for the UEFA Super Cup clash against Chelsea due to injury.

The Brazilian stopper suffered a calf injury just 38 minutes into Liverpool’s opening Premier League match of the season against Norwich.

Summer signing Adrian came on as a replacement with the Reds going on to comfortably win the match 4-1 at Anfield on Friday night.

And the Spaniard will continue between the posts when Liverpool travel to Turkey to take on Chelsea, with manager Jurgen Klopp ruling out his first-choice goalkeeper.

Speaking after victory over the Canaries, Klopp said: “There is actually nothing bad to say about the game apart from Ali’s injury.

“That is, of course, not good for us, but we have to see how serious it is and then we have to deal with it.

“It’s the calf and that’s it. He couldn’t carry on, that’s not a good sign. We have to see.

“Wednesday [in the Super Cup], he will not play – with all my experience, I can say that already. He is injured, for sure, so we have to see how much.”

Klopp will also be tempted to ring the changes in his starting XI as he looks to keep his squad fresh and avoid injury.

Joel Matip should come in for Joe Gomez at centre-back, with the latter having started the previous two games after returning from a long-term injury.

And Dejan Lovren could replace Virgil van Dijk but Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are expected to retain their spots in the back four.

Naby Keita and James Milner should come into midfield, having missed out against Norwich, while Adam Lallana or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could also get the nod.

Xherdan Shaqiri will compete with Divock Origi for a spot on the left wing with Sadio Mane unlikely to be risked, although Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino may feature.
